Once it’s warmed up it starts just fine. It has front controls with no obvious ways to choke it. I’m assuming it needs the choke to start like all other outboards. If you see the two male spades sticking up, pull/dig the male assembly out of the housing. The male spade assembly will have two wire set screws where you can wired it to your own cord. You'll have to drill/cut out a perforated hole/s in the rubber to run the wires out once assembled.
