Due to the fact that I have oil around the dipstick, I concluded that the leak must be coming from that top part - the part that the solenoid and oil valve connect to. I bit the bullet and removed it. Three bolts - two on the bottom, and the top one that holds the solenoid on.Within a hundred miles my wife experienced a single hard idle and then the check engine light came on. I installed the VCMuzzler at about 95k miles and spool valve was not leaking at the time, but started leaking around 160k.
