Jan 23, 2012 · Just changing the oil is pretty straight forward. Pull the front wheel. Loosen the top fork plugs. Loosen the triple clamp bolts. Pull the fork legs out (one at the time). Mark them left and right. Pull the top fork plugs off. Drain the oil. Flush 3 times with AFT - drain well between flushes - especially the last one. After reading several threads about oil, decided it was time to do an oil change myself. In the last 4 years of owning an Aero 750 and now a VTX 1300 I had been taking the bike in to the dealer per the maintenance schedule. Have done a bunch of mods from all the great posts on the cafe, but left the maintenance work to the shop.Also, A K&N filter is an oiled filter so maybe that's the type filter you have.
